Hello friends!
I wanted to quickly share an awesome cleaning vinegar that I use regularly to clean and disinfect the home: Citrus Infused Vinegar
Vinegar is a great alternative to chemical-based cleaners. It can be used to clean surfaces, deodorize, and remove tough stains.
Limonene is a natural compound that is found in the rinds of citrus fruits such as Lemons, Limes, Grapefruit, and Oranges. It is the predominant monoterpene found in oranges, lemons, limes, and other citrus fruits. It is used in a wide range of products such as detergents, perfumes, beauty products, cleaning products, and as a food flavoring.
It is used as a natural solvent in some cleaning products, such as “orange cleaners” as an alternative to harsher chemicals such as ammonia or bleach. Limonene has a pleasant citrus scent and is not as harsh or irritating as many of the other chemicals used in cleaning products. It is biodegradable and has been found to be less harmful to the environment than other solvents.
This is a sustainable way to make your toxic-free cleaning solution.
*This spray will cut Grease (citrus) on the counters, disinfects and also makes a great addition for floor mopping.
*Using citrus peels are more sustainable and affordable than using the essential oil. And guess what, the essential oil is actually located in the peel!
To Make a Citrus Infused Vinegar:
- Simply add your citrus peels to a jar and add vinegar. You may also add other fragrant herbs such as Lavender Flowers or cinnamon bark, etc.
- Make sure the peels are submerged but also leave room in the jar to continue adding more peels and vinegar.
- Cover and give it a little shake and allow to sit for about a week and strain with a coffee filter to avoid any debris from clogging your spray bottle.
- Spray the solution onto the surface and wipe it off with a clean cloth. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and can also be used to remove soap scum, hard water stains, and wax buildup.
